One Hundred Dollars - Aaron’s Song (Live at the Great Hall)
via colinmedley
Simone played this song in Winnipeg at Pop Soda’s on November 15th. She played it on Paul Mortimer’s guitar, in her leather jacket, on a chair. She started the song off by explaining who Aaron was. Verbatim, this is what she said:
Aaron loved to party. And strippers. And sex. He had cerebral palsy. He spent his life fighting and resisting being put in a home after spending his younger life in those types of places. He didn’t speak. His way of communicating was a board full of words and pointing them out with his eyes. After Cancer looked like it was going to take his life, Aaron and Simone decided to write a song together. He wanted to let people know about his life.
This is that song. I’ll never forget Simone’s performance that night.
