I have to get a gym membership later this month.

Not because I wanna lose weight (though, of course I do), but because hockey season is over soon. Without hockey, I can’t shower. Without the showers at hockey, I have to use the bathtub at home. That used to be fine, except now the cats like to play in the bathtub. I’m pretty allergic to contact with cats. The first time I bathed in the cat-coated tub, I couldn’t breathe right for 2 days. The next time I bathed, I cleaned the tub thoroughly beforehand. I still had a hard time breathing afterwards - less so than the first time, but it still fucked me up for 24 hours.

Basically, this is me clarifying to lifeaquatic that the bedroom and bathroom will need to be Ace-free zones.

I can feel it today, that summer feeling. It’s going to be a good one, right? Let’s all drink some beers in the park and play some bocce and croquet soon, okay?

I sure do love Jonathan Richman.

Hey wrlittle

I hear ya Jonathan, but I’m in Winnipeg. We’ve still got several feet of snow :(

What Happened to Canada? →

This is a good piece that sums up what I try to tell American friends on a regular basis. Especially when it comes to this:

If there is a battle over the future of Canada, its frontline is the issue of resource extraction. This is where the most frightening stories are emerging and the most dynamic forms of resistance as well.

Welcome to my world. It’s pretty insane to watch it all unfold.

"Why do you always have hockey sticks in your car?" Because in Canada, a game can break out anywhere.

Quote reblogged from Aboriginal Press News Service (APNS) with 699 notes

The issue of murdered and missing Indigenous women was made very public by the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) several years ago through their dedicated research, community engagement and advocacy efforts. Even the United Nations took notice and starting commenting on Canada’s obligation to address this serious issue. Yet, in typical Harper-Conservative style, once the issue became a hot topic in the media, they cut critical funding to NWAC’s Sisters in Spirit program which was the heart of their research and advocacy into murdered and missing Indigenous women.
